Painting over mold is not a viable solution and will likely only temporarily hide the problem rather than eliminate it, as mold will probably continue growing beneath the paint and eventually break through the new finish.

The moisture and organic materials that allowed mold to develop in the first place will most likely remain present, providing an ongoing food source that allows the colony to spread even further behind your walls.

Paint does not kill mold spores, and applying fresh paint could actually trap moisture against the surface, creating even more favorable conditions for mold infestation.

The proper approach requires identifying and eliminating the moisture source, removing contaminated materials if necessary, thoroughly cleaning affected surfaces with appropriate antimicrobial solutions, and ensuring complete drying before any repainting occurs.

Using mold-resistant primer and paint after proper remediation could help prevent future growth, but these products are preventative measures, not solutions for existing mold problems.
