The drying time for professionally cleaned carpets typically ranges from 1 to 6 hours, though some situations may require even more than that.

Now, this hinges on what type of carpet cleaning we’re referencing. A VLM type of cleaning (very low moisture) typically takes 1 to 2 hrs. We place air movers in the area so we can get the carpets dryer faster.

Hot water extraction (HWE) is a deeper cleaning method and, without air movement, could take 6 or more hours to dry, but it’s important to dry as quickly as possible so we add air movers to the areas where we cleaned the carpets.

A few more factors could influence this timeline as well, including the humidity level in your home and the amount of airflow and ventilation generally available. Opening windows and running your air conditioning could also speed up the drying.

Lastly, walking on damp carpet should be avoided during this period to prevent resoiling and potential damage to the fibers.
