Preparing for carpet cleaning begins with removing small items, toys, plants, and breakable objects from the floor and any furniture surfaces that might need to be moved during the cleaning process.
Vacuum high-traffic areas and edges beforehand if possible, though professional cleaners will do this as well, and identify any specific stains or problem areas you want to point out to the cleaning technician.
Clear a path from your entrance to the rooms being cleaned so cleaning technicians can easily bring in their equipment, and if you have pets, plan to keep them in a separate area or outside during the appointment.
Move lightweight furniture like dining chairs, ottomans, and small tables out of the way.
Larger pieces like sofas and beds typically do not need to be removed for effective carpet cleaning. For example, we don’t move large pieces here at Superior Contract Cleaning; these usually stay in place. We aren’t furniture movers, so we (and most other companies) do not move large pieces.
Check with your cleaning company about their specific requirements, secure valuables, and ensure someone will be present to answer questions and provide access to water and electrical outlets.
